Today was our 14 week ultrasound.   We had a fantastic new ultrasound tech named David. He was super helpful and kept cracking jokes and making Eva laugh so the babies would move.

We found out that Baby A is sprawled out on Eva’s left side and Babies B and C are stacked on top of each other on her right side.  She was feeling a lot of pressure in that area, so we are glad to know that its just a couple of fetuses stacked on her bladder.

Ok, so the big news you want to read about. The tech believes that Baby A is a Girl, Baby B is a Boy, and Baby C is ……. also a boy. Again this is somewhat speculative, an educated guess.  It is hard to be exact when their genitals are still so small.  We will be 100% sure of this after the next scan in two weeks, when we go in for the anatomy scans.

I’ll post the scans and belly pics soon.  Also of note, due to Eva’s being sick she has lost .5lb in the last month.  I will be working hard to force feed her.  If you see her, make sure she eats something wholesome and high caloric.

P.S. The Doctor did tell me not to put too much Jewish guilt on the poor woman.

So while I do not have nausea under control and I am still quite miserable, I do have some suggestions for others who are suffering from this.

There have been three items Jay has brought home over the past few days that have help more than other remedies. While this is no cure- all these items do help relieve some of the symptoms.

My favorite of the three are the Psi Bands, pronounce “sigh”.

Better than the old SeaBands, but using the same pressure point therapy, these guys are adjustable for all wrist sizes and they have a dial for each band that controls the amount of pressure applied. An added bonus is their more chic appearance than the SeaBands’ blue/gray elastic band. Psi Bands come in a variety of colors.

Some women feel immediate relief when they put these on. For me it takes longer- but relief does come. I just wear them most of the day to ward off future waves of nausea and to keep the current feelings at bay. I love wearing them when I take naps since often I wake up feeling worse than when I went to bed. So far these have kept me from feeling sick after my beauty sleep. **** Helpful hint to those non-pregnants out there- this is a great gift. It’s inexpensive and it really does work… Send it with the “congratulations you’re pregnant” card, she may not wear them right away- but sooner or later they will come in handy!****

My second favorite thing is Newman’s Own Organic Ginger Mints. Like an Altoid these little guys pack a powerful punch. To me they have the perfect amount of ginger- not too much and not too weak. I keep these in my purse and pop them all day long. These work the best for immediate nausea control. I suggest any pregnant woman have a hidden stash of these- believe me you have to hide them from everyone- they are addictive! I would imagine they are also great for the times after you have gorged yourself on a really heavy meal and you are feeling sick from your gluttony.. so really they would be good for anyone to keep on hand.

The third item is still in testing phase and I am not sure I am sold on it yet. These are Chimes Ginger Chews. So far I cant get Jay to stop eating these long enough for me to have two consecutively! These are far more powerful than the Newman’s ginger and it can be a bit much at times. Also, while they are tiny, they are still a little too big for me. Since they are chews they really stick to your teeth and if your gag reflex is as sensitive as mine this creates problems. I don’t want to take these off my list just yet as I really think they are potential warriors in my battle of the puke- I just think I have to make adjustments. I am going to try cutting the next one in thirds and try to tackle it that way next. I am really sensitive, so for the woman who isn’t these may be a better option than the Newman’s. I think it is worth a try- if you don’t like them, someone else will.
